Jerome Nicholas Vlieland in Havre le Grace

In this add from Saturday 13 January 1849 in the Norfolk Chronicle and Norwich Gazette .
Jerome is on the continent in Havre Le Grace  France .

Do you think that place sounds familiair ?

It was in 1848 that the first train arrived there from Paris.
It was a famous port for the immigrant ships to America.

And also of the stories of Jeroen Vlieland .The captain of the mail line to Topsham .
His brother Hendrik Vlieland sailed with his ship `The young Elisabeth`  from Rotterdam to Havre le Grace and was captured by Henry Bazely and his Kingsship `The Harpy`.
The ship ended as prizeship  and was sold .
The son of Hendrik was killed .
Hendrik complained to the clercks office
Parts of his ship were later recovered in the place he lived Noordwijk.
Where they washed ashore.
Of this event is a lot of documentary.
The documents of the ship where discovered by us in the National Archives in Kew  where they
were kept.
Letters  of complaints and the the complaints of the wifes and widows of the crewmembers .
Here are the links again to reread those stories.
