family heirlooms

These items belonged to Alice Vlieland
Her great granddaughter tells us.
My Gran said these belonged to her mother Alice

They have been mine for about fifty years and very much cherished.
The thimble case only had a brass thimble in it by the time it came to me but I think it dates from about 1850 so might have been her grandmothers before her mothers.
Alice made the pin cushion herself like a miniature and it was originally green velvet but now become very worn and threadbare.
The samplers were often worked by young girls while learning needle skills.
These ones are worked in wool.
The New Testament sadly has nothing written in it.
